This Autumn Winter it is all about textured fabrics, embroidered detail and rich colour tones.
Here are my top picks to add to your wardrobe to create a luxe feel to your current wardrobe items.
THE STATEMENT JACKET
A statement jacket is the perfect edition to your winter wardrobe. Team it with a grey tee and jeans for effortless off duty style or layer over a luxe dress for a night on the town. A neutral colour such as black or navy are more versatile. It can be layered over a colour, other neutral colours and prints & patterns with ease.
THE EMBROIDERED DRESS
Embroidery adds interest and texture to your outfit. If you like the ‘on trend’ rock bohemian look team with a biker jacket and ankle boots. There is a colour combination and style to suit every personality. If a dress isn’t your thing and you want to add embroidery to your wardrobe in a subtle way try an embroidered belt, bag or shoes.
THE VELVET ACCESSORY
Velvet is the must have fabric of the season. It is rich in texture giving your outfit a luxurious edge. Choose a cross body bag in navy velvet instead of black. It can be worn during the day across your shoulder or as a clutch in the evening.
THE STATEMENT HEEL
This seasons 90’s revival has a heavy influence on footwear. The western buckle has been a must have nod to the nineties. A detailed heel is an accessory in itself. When wearing a simple outfit add a statement shoe for an instant update.
THE OVERSIZED EARRINGS
When it comes to earrings bigger is better. Choose a shoulder duster style to amp up your outfit. If you have rounded features look for a style with curved lines. If you have angular features look for a style with sharper lines. They will be the most complimentary to your face shape.
Q. Dear Tamara, There are so many summer shoes styles to choose from. Can you suggest three go-to flats I should be buying the season?
A. There’s one shoe trend that we have seen over the past few seasons that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and it’s the sneaker trend. The best option for spring and summer is a pair in crisp white. Team them with a sport luxe ensemble or with your favourite dress. For those who like a little height without wearing a heel the block heel sandals are for you. Opt for a tan or nude colour to give the illusion of extra long legs. The most popular sandal by far is the lace up sandal in a metallic hue. If you don’t want to go with a shoe that laces all the way up the leg, there are plenty of options that tie at the ankle too.
As seen in South Australian Style Magazine Issue 28 Summer edition.

Look for simple classic pieces in a block colour in a fabric that won’t crease. Clothing always looks more expensive when is free of wrinkles. Think of investing some of the money you save on a tailor to custom fit the item. When a garment is tailored and fits perfectly it always looks high end. Add a great pair of classic pumps and metallic accessories to give you an instant update. Do your research and pre select some looks for inspiration, most chain stores will mimic a designer style.
